Editor’s Letter
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Welcome to chapalalakesidenews.com, a volunteer-run joint project of the Lake Chapala Society and the Semanario Laguna news organization to bring the Mexican and Expat communities closer together. Our focus will be exclusively on Lakeside – hyperlocal, as journalists like to say – and not in competition with other news sources that cover state and national news.We will publish the stories that are important to the Mexican community translated into English and rewritten for Expat readers, so that they can get a detailed look at the priorities and daily lives of our Mexican neighbors. As it turns out, those stories are important to both communities so we will be, if you will pardon a pun, all on the same page.
chapalalakesidenews.com is a volunteer organization, the Translation Team, our editors, and I, are all volunteers . Our stories come from the paid staff of Laguna Semanario, but for those of us who make it happen in English every week, it is a labor of love.
And we will post stories and comments from you, our English audience. We will also provide investigations, historical features, recipes, and editorials written by Semanario Staff and guest writers but translated and rewritten in English about life in Lakeside. The one exception is that chapalalakesidenews.com will post the two weekly columns I publish in the US and the UK about Spanish and English music and bands locally and worldwide.
We hope you will find chapalalakesidenews.com an indispensable part of your life here in Lakeside, whether you are full-time, apart-time, or a snowbird. Please, use our comments and suggestions pages to let us know what would make us most useful to you. And we would love to have you volunteer![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
